Come And Visit A Christmas Tree Farm

Ever wonder where your Christmas tree is going to come from? You have an open invitation to visit Glaisters Christmas Tree Farm during December. There you’ll be able to see how Christmas trees are selected, cut and made ready for delivery. While you’re there you can select a Christmas tree of your own, a stand to hold your tree, and any decorations you need for a stunning display.

There is a lot of work involved with growing a Christmas tree. The process generally takes around ten years from seed planting to harvesting and along the way those trees need plenty of care and attention. The shaping of the tree starts from its third year in the ground – each tree is gently sheared each year to help develop that traditional Christmas tree shape. You’ll see the results of these efforts when you visit our farm.

The farm and farm shop are open for visitors between 10am and 4:30pm on:

3rd and 4th December
10th and 11th December
17th and 18th December

If you wish to visit on a weekday, please call ahead and book a suitable time – this is our busiest time of the year, however, we’ll always try to accommodate visitors outside of those weekend hours.

For those looking for something special in the way of Christmas wreaths, come and talk to us about specific colours or themes. Our in-house florist has a lot of experience creating wonderful wreaths, they may be able to help you create your wreath. If you need help finding us, feel free to give us call for directions. Glaisters,  Kirkgunzeon, Dumfries DG2 8JT Telephone: 01387 760234

Christmas Has Begun At Glaisters Farm !

We’re beginning preparations for Christmas 2011, we have 250,000 trees in the ground made up of Fraser Fir, The Nordman Fir, and The Norway  Spruce. Despite the weather  the trees are doing very well and have completed their growing for this seaso. We can now concentrate on shearing the trees for this Christmas.

We’ve been producing and selling UK grown, freshly cut Christmas trees for  8 years all from our online shop. It gives us huge pleasure to send customers our beautiful trees in the knowledge they will be proudly displayed in homes the length and breadth of the country, then filled with Christmas decorations!

We are just finalising our range of Christmas lights and decorations for this season and for the first time will bring you some ideas on what ‘trends’ will be popular for Christmas 2011!

So … watch this space.

See A Christmas Tree Farm In Action

Christmas Tree farm mapHave you ever wanted to see a Christmas tree farm up close and perhaps pick your own tree from the stock available? This weekend (December 5th and 6th) you can visit a Christmas tree farm as Scottish Christmas Trees opens its doors to the general public. It’s for one weekend only so take your family for a drive and select a Christmas tree that’s just right for you.

We will also have a wide range of Christmas decorations and lights available for you to select from along with friendly advice on how to decorate your tree. We can also offer some sound advice on how to achieve the best look with your Christmas tree so it lasts throughout the Christmas period.

We have three different types of Christmas tree available so you can see and smell each type before making your final selection. Smell? Oh yes, as each tree has it’s own distinct Christmas fragrance. Selecting your own Christmas tree can be a special time for the family and with Scottish Christmas Trees you don’t have to worry about having the space in your car to get your tree home; we can arrange to have it delivered for you.

Where are we?

Take the A711 to Caulkerbush and look out for the sign posts and the giant 20ft Nordman Fir Christmas tree near Kirkgunzeon Dumfries and Galloway (DG2 8JT). We look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Christmas is coming

Now that the days are getting shorter and nights colder things start to change here on the farm. The last of our autumn calfs were born a little over 2 weeks ago. All of our cows have had their annual vaccines and are ready for the winter ahead. As grass growth slows down we are starting to give the cattle some supplementary feeding and it will not be long now before we have to bring some of them inside for the winter months.
